As a “female-empowered” company, we are very happy to dedicate today’s post to International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th and has a long and important history. The United Nations (UN) motto for International Women’s Day 2023 is “EmbraceEquity”, to break stereotypes and prejudices against women and girls. Although the women’s movement has made many achievements, there is still inequality and violence against women. Events are held in many German cities on March 8th and demonstrations announced to highlight the most pressing issues.

International Women’s Day dates back to the struggle of women fighting for their basic rights in the 19th century. The movement started in Europe and quickly spread to other parts of the world. In 1910, the German socialist Clara Zetkin proclaimed International Women’s Day at the Second International Conference of Socialist Women. Since then it has grown into a global event, mobilizing millions of women and men around the world every year.

Today, International Women’s Day is more important than ever. Women are still disadvantaged in many areas of life, be it in the workplace, in politics or in the family. On average, women earn less than men and have fewer career opportunities. Violence against women is pervasive and many women still lack access to education and health care. International Women’s Day reminds us that we still have a long way to go when it comes to gender equality. It’s a chance to celebrate the achievements of women and focus on the work that still needs to be done. In recent years we have seen progress in gender equality, but there is still work to be done.

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to call for a stronger commitment to promoting gender equality. We must strive to support women in all aspects of life so that they can reach their full potential. We must work to ensure that women have the same opportunities as men and that they are free from discrimination and violence.

Overall, International Women’s Day is an important day to celebrate advances in gender equality and draw attention to the most pressing issues. We can all do our part by standing up for women’s rights and well-being and by working to ensure that women have equal rights in all areas of life. This is the only way we can ensure that women can reach their full potential and create a fairer world.

Have you faced gender equality issues in the workplace? How did you deal with it?
